I believe nature and art go hand in hand. Whether it's as simple as grass, plants with colorful flowers or a fancy fountain with an artificial rock garden it’s all beautiful. A garden is like a blank canvas where it’s up to you, your style and how you choose to fill it. Personally, I love vintage style and seem to have a knack for it.  Filling up every nook and cranny with antique-inspired treasures makes me feel connected to long ago and adds charm to the rustic lifestyle amidst the bustling city life.

Why Vintage and Antique look, you may ask?

Here are 5 reasons I love this look and style...

  • Gives a personal touch, rather than mass produced looks:

Using up-cycled or vintage-inspired pieces in the garden or unique construction materials has always been very appealing. A few carefully selected, authentic vintage/antique items add atmosphere and the patina of age add a hint of the memories of former owners from previous periods. As a result, the garden looks more intimate than mass-produced.

  • Up-cycling, not recycling:

When achieved correctly, up-cycling is not only cost-effective, but also extremely pleasurable and satisfying. It also appeals to a growing group of gardeners who are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with our new, consumerist era. But where and how do you start? Keep reading, as I will be giving 6 tips to decorate your garden.

  • There is no-need to do any proper planning:

This is something I really like about the Vintage style garden look. I don’t have to design the climber structure or determine where to put the planters. Everything is very natural... a crack in the wall covered with pink Bougainvilleas coming out of nowhere gives that natural and country vibe. Honestly, interior designers do not need to be involved in this process, which brings me to the next point - cost effectiveness.

  • Pocket-friendly decor:

We all know how much an interior designer normally charges and decorating the garden space will increase the cost significantly. When you design your own garden space, you don’t have to worry about the imperfections. Rather, you will have memories attached with it. There is no pressure of putting costly stones or lights to bring elegance instead just simple grass and a couple of fairy lights can do the magic. Vintage gardens often exude an aura of casualness, which is associated with raw, rough, and curved surfaces. Planting is a lot more free and easy. Climbers crawl up and over vertical structures and surfaces, crossing borders.

  • Treat this as a hobby and not a to-do list:

I add collectibles or antique pieces whenever I like. There is no pressure to complete it by a specific date. The best part is my guests don’t even think my garden looks incomplete. All joking aside, gardening for me is therapeutic and gives me a fresh start to every day. All this is possible only because of the Vintage garden look I choose. The best garden will have a mixture of taste and styles. On one corner, it will have a floral theme while the other will be a modern corner with steel or golden color planters. Needless to say, it will make your garden uniquely chic.

As mentioned earlier here are the best tips and guides on how you can decorate.

6 Best tips to decorate your home garden:

Decorate Home Garden

  1. Up-cycling-Junkyards, garage sales, thrift shops, and charity shops are great places to search for fascinating garden memorabilia – the trendy word is ‘gardenalia' – that can be put to imaginative, innovative use; it's all about looking at things and materials in new ways. Aged copper or rusty iron water tanks, for instance, can make very attractive planters, as can old metal diesel tanks cut in half. Also lengths of commercial angle iron – a structural construction material readily accessible from steelyards.

  2. Retro patio setting with a wooden desk and floral tablecloths- When it comes to retro chic, blowsy florals and soft pastel shades are important. Set a bucolic dining table with tablecloths made of crisp ticking and rose-patterned linens. Wrap up with exquisite porcelain and flower-filled jugs to complete the style.

  3. Add Rustic gardening tools in a vintage garden-Use classic metal tools with elegant finishes to make light work of watering and weeding the lawn. Every gardener requires a range of tools in order to care for and preserve their outdoor area. Owing to an ever-expanding range of simple-to-use, reliable, and labor-saving gardening tools and equipment, you can now spend more time in the garden than ever before.

  4. Stepladder flower show in a vintage backyard - An old stepladder is still available at car boot sales and is an excellent way of adding height to a display. An enticing assortment of colourful blooms in picturesque enamel baskets breaks up a bland brick wall.

  5. Swing in a vintage courtyard - In a vintage garden, a casual, weedy planting arrangement looks beautiful, but a few well-placed swings with floral cushion give it structure, particularly for garden gatherings. Paper Tissue pom poms flutter softly in the air, and a tiger lilies basket adds a splash of colour.

  6. Including accessories as finishing touches-This may seem a bit overrated, but it still got the charm. Garden ornaments are something more than an aesthetic choice; they can influence how you shape and use your outdoor environment, as well as how it looks when you're in it. A wrought-iron gate can lead to a world of green, a tree-hung lantern can change your mind, and a curved bench can induce a nap.
